The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has been alerted, including by law enforcement, regarding cases of organized voter transportation. Reports indicate that voters are being transported to certain polling stations within the country, particularly to stations set up for voters from the left bank of the Dniester. The CEC has also expressed concern over public reports of organized voter transportation by both land and air to polling stations in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, as reported by IPN.
In a press briefing, CEC Chairperson Angelica Caraman stated that the General Police Inspectorate reported 52 incidents in the electoral process by 1:00 PM. These included 11 cases of ballot photography, leading to three official reports, and at least seven cases with reasonable suspicion of voter bribery. There were also about 10 cases of prohibited electoral campaigning, as well as instances of ballot defacement, unauthorized electoral displays, and more.
“We have also been notified about organized transportation of voters. Currently, there are six reported cases. We are concerned both about these notifications and about public reports regarding organized transportation of voters by land and air to polling stations in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. We have also received signals about voter transportation to certain polling stations within the country, especially those organized for voters from the left bank of the Dniester,” said Angelica Caraman.
She emphasized that electoral officials have been trained to document all electoral law violations. These incidents are also being documented by relevant authorities and monitored by election observers.
"We remind everyone that, according to the Electoral Code, organized transportation of voters to polling stations on election day, intended to influence them to exercise their voting rights, is prohibited. Such actions, including organized voter transportation, are contraventions punishable by a fine of 60 to 120 penalty units for individuals. For legal entities, a fine of 180 to 300 penalty units applies, along with the suspension of certain activities for a period of six months to a year. The CEC urges all parties involved to refrain from any interference in the electoral process and from attempting to influence voters,” added the CEC Chairperson.
