Voter turnout was over 43% at 15.45
43.05% of the over 2.5 million voters from all over the country cast their votes by 15.45. The data of the Central Election Commission (CEC) show that over 62% of the voters in Basarabeasca took part in elections and continue to be the most active voters. A voter turnout of over 50% was reported in Dubasari, Telenesti, Foresti, Taraclia, Ocnita, Soldanesti and Donduseni districts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The turnout in Falesti, Cahul, Sangerei, Orhei, Cantemir and Ialoveni districts was the lowest - about 40%.
A number of 249,166 of the 600,000 residents with the right to vote or 39.97% made their choices in Chisinau. The turnout in the municipality of Balti was slightly over 32%, while in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia – about 39%.
CEC president Eugeniu Stirbu voiced hope that the turnout will rise until 19.00 and the elections will be validated.
Renata Lapti, the vice president of the CEC, said that over 4,000 Moldovans voted abroad by 13.00.
The CEC members also said that besides the incident in Corjova, no other incidents that could influence the election outcome have happened.
The Central Election Commission will publish new information about the turnout of voters at about 18.45.
