The voter turnout in all the seven localities where mayoral elections were held today was higher than the minimum, IPN has learned from the Central Election Commission.
The voter turnout at 9pm was: in Chisinau municipality – 35.53%, in Balti municipality –34.93%, in Leuseni, Hancesti – 36.89%, in Nemteni, Hancesti – 36.85%, in Jora de Mijloc, Orhei – 52.68%, in Volovita, Soroca – 46.93%, in Parlita, Ungheni – 39.23%.
For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes.
