The interest in the next elections and the turnout of voters will be higher than at the previous elections due to the new electoral system. The candidates in constituencies will generate voters’ curiosity, political analyst Corneliu Ciurea was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.
According to the analyst, the apathy in the upcoming elections will be smaller in intensity. “I anticipate that about 60% of the electors will vote in the elections. The interest is great,” stated Corneliu Ciurea.
Jurist Pavel Midrigan said the electoral contenders will work separately, in constituencies. “The administrative resource appears here, as usual. To someone, the club is open, while to others it is closed,” stated the jurist. He noted the campaign prior to the February 24 elections will take place on TV and this is the particularity of these elections.
Journalist Irina Astahova said the current election campaign is very serious. Not many election outcomes are projected – the majority will be formed by the Socialists, an alliance will be formed by the Democratic Party and the bloc ACUM, or the elections will not be validated.
As to the televised electoral debates, the journalist stated it will be technically difficult in the election campaign to ensure the competitors’ equal access.
