Vote recount will cost over 13 million lei

The Central Election Commission (CEC) Saturday adopted a decision whereby it set the procedure for recounting the votes cast in the November 28 early legislative elections. The measure ordered by the Constitutional Court will cost over 13 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The CEC approved the vote recount regulations, the format of the reports on the identified divergences and other necessary documents. The Commission’s secretary Iurie Ciocan said that 13 million lei will be needed to remunerate about 20,000 persons forming part of the electoral bodies, including all the members of the councils of the district electoral bureaus who will work for five days, from December 13 until December 17 inclusive. The money will be also used to cover the electric power, heating and telecommunications costs at polling places and to secure the transportation of the ballots and voting reports. Iurie Ciocan said the money will be allocated from the Government’s reserve fund. The application to recount the votes was submitted to the Constitutional Court by the Communists Party.
