Vote recount on last 100 meters

The vote recount is close to be completed. The secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Iurie Ciocan has told Info-Prim Neo that the votes from the electoral bureaus of Ungheni district had been recounted from 7am until 9am. The votes in two more districts and from the polling places abroad are yet to be recounted. Iurie Ciocan also said that the central electoral authority will present the preliminary results by the end of the day. The final results will be announced on Saturday, December 18, in the first half of the day. “We can say that the identified divergences are minor,” he said. According to Iurie Ciocan, in the vote recount process it was established that a number of votes in favor of one of the runners were counted as in favor of another runner, but this cannot affect the percentage of votes scored by the contenders and the distribution of seats in Parliament. The CEC started to recount the votes on December 16, under a decision passed by the Constitutional on December 10. The decision was taken on the basis of an application filed by the PCRM, which claimed that serious violations were committed in the vote recount process and there were significant dissimilarities between the voting reports provided for the Communist observers at the polling place on the election day and the data published on the official website of the CEC.
