The Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) on Monday asked the Constitutional Court to order the recount of voters as this is important for the creation of the future government coalition, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on Tuesday, Radu Busila, the representative of the PPCD to the Central Election Commission, said that the elections were rigged and invoked the irregularities mentioned in the monitoring reports compiled by nongovernmental organizations. Busila referred to the disconnections from the electricity supply during the vote count, to the fact that valid ballots were declared invalid and vice versa, etc. “The recounting of votes is necessary in order to find out the truth - if people’s votes are counted correctly and if they reach the destination,” Radu Busila said. Dinu Turcanu, the head of the PPCD’s electoral staff, said that the Republic of Moldova needs a functional Parliament composed of a broad coalition that will lay emphasis on professionalism and will act in the people’s and Moldova’s interests. The head of state must be an apolitical person, who will ensure an equilibrium in the legislative body and in the society, Dinu Turcanu added. Political analyst Igor Botan considers that it was the wish to remain in the spotlight that made the PPCD demand a vote recount. During a debate program on Pro TV Chisinau, he said that it is a desperate attempt by this party with a glorious 20-year history to reach the people’s years. Botan also said that it is a regrettable behavior. The April vote recount cost the budget 4 million lei. If they put forward such initiatives, they should also think about the public money, the analyst said. The PPCD is changing its identity. In despair, it is looking for different solutions like news conferences held in the street, analyst Vasile Botnaru said at the same program. In the July 29 elections, the PPCD gained 1.91% of the poll. The election threshold was 5%.
