Vote recount cost 3.7 M lei: CEC
3.688 million lei were spent to recount the ballots, reads a communique by the Central Election Commission (CEC,) quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The CEC specifies “any other amounts stated by certain political parties are exaggerated.” “The CEC is deeply concerned about these attempts to mislead the public,” the release reads.
Recounting the ballots cast in the April 5 elections was done on April 15, 2009. The recount was ordered by the Constitutional Court following a request by the Communists Party. The opposition stayed away from the recount, arguing only checking the electoral lists can unveil the elections were rigged.
