Voronin’s regime tired Moldovans out, Moscow publication
After the July 29 elections, the Moldovan Communists have lost the power that they had held for eight years. The population welcomes the formation of a coalition called the Alliance for European Integration by the four Opposition parties, the Moscow newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the publication, the Alliance for European Integration aims to remove the authoritarian regime of the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin. This government tired everybody out so that the four democratic parties did not want to initiate a dialogue with the Communists Party over the formation of a broad government coalition.
Moreover, the political leaders of the new liberal-democratic coalition intend to remove Vladimir Voronin from all the administrative posts. Voronin continues to hold the presidency and has chances to keep this post if the Parliament does not elect a new head of state, Nezavisimaya Gazet said.
At the same time, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu told the Moscow newspaper that if the head of state is not elected with the help of eight Communist MPs, the coalition will make everything possible so that the people could again chose the president of the country directly. Thus, next year the Moldovans could have the right to elect not only the legislative body, but also the head of state. According to Marian Lupu and his allies, this will enable Moldova to overcome the political crisis. Otherwise, Moldova might repeat Ukraine’s example and have interminable elections and dissolutions of the Parliament, the newspaper says.
