Voronin's rating rises, poll
If legislative elections were held next Sunday, four political parties would clear the electoral threshold to win seats in Parliament – the Communist Party, the Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Liberal Party –, according to a fresh poll conducted by CBS-AXA and commissioned by the Russia-based foundation “Priznanie” (Recognition).
The most popular politician is the Communist leader, ex-president Vladimir Voronin, followed by Democrat leader Marian Lupu, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Compared with an earlier poll known as BOP, the Communist Party and the Democratic Party improved their standings, from 29% and 9% to 13% and 33%, respectively. The Liberals' rating remained unchanged at 8% and the Lib-Dems' decreased from 19% to 15%
Vladimir Voronin would win 27% in case of presidential elections (up 2% from BOP), despite incertitude over his eligibility for a third term. Lupu's popularity rating also rose 2% to 22%. PM Vlad Filat, the president of the Liberal Democratic Party, would garner slightly over 16% of the vote.
The poll also shows that the Moldova Noastra Alliance would fail to win parliamentary seats this time, taking only 2% of the vote, half the threshold.
