The head of the Association “Pro Europa” Boris Asarov asserts the Communists Party headed by ex-President Vladimir Voronin are involved in cases of smuggling, assassination, misappropriation of funds, money extortion and corruption. Boris Asarov said that during eight years, Vladimir Voronin had terrorized the people who remained in the country. He presented an analysis-investigation titled “Moldovan Project – results of the eight-year government by the Voronin family and the PCRM” in a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on November 4. Boris Asarov said that Vladimir Voronin is involved in a number of criminal cases, including the Dimitrov case, the Ciocarlia case, the Moldconstruct Market case, the Transline case, the Heroina case, etc. According to him, after Vladimir Voronin came to power in 2001, he started to show his stingy, vainglorious, arrogant and mischievous nature and the wish to become rich quickly. “These traits determined the policy pursued by him while in power,” Boris Asarov said. He also said that Vladimir Voronin aimed to get rich. “After 2001, Vladimir Voronin privatized a large number of wine companies and factories and made profits of millions of lei,” he said. Asarov stated that Vladimir Voronin embezzled millions of lei from the state budget. He gave as example Pan Halippa St, which, according to the results of the tender contest, was reconstructed by a company owned by Oleg Voronin. Asarov asserts that 90 million lei was allocated for repairing the street, but there was used only 34 million lei, while the rest was appropriated by Vladimir Voronin. “In 2007 alone, 17 facilities were reconstructed in the municipality of Chisinau at costs that were unjustifiably increased by 21 million lei,” Boris Asarov said. The head of “Pro Europa” Association also said that the head office of the PCRM located at 11 Nicolae Iorga St was appropriated by cheating persons who formed part of the Public Education Employees House. According to him, in 2001 the Communists Party rented several rooms in that building. Afterward, it purchased the building for €100,000 or about 1.6 million lei at a time when its market value was 30 million lei. Asarov asserts that Vladimir Voronin had connection with the criminal underworld. In 2005, the president of Victoriabank was arrested illegally and subjected to psychological and physical torture and forced into yielding the shares he owned. In March 2007, a furniture factory owner was illegally arrested and the factory was transferred to Oleg Voronin’s friends. Boris Asarov also said that Vladimir Voronin ordered murdering a number of inconvenient persons and the cases opened over these murders were closed in order to hide the truth. In this connection, Boris Asarov said that the Communists’ current election campaign is based on lies and manipulation of the public opinion. He stated he obtained the information about Vladimir Voronin and the PCRM from the mass media and from own sources.
