Earlier, the press reported that Vladimir Voronin, Igor Smirnov and Dmitry Medvedev will have a trilateral meeting in Moscow on March 18 and discuss the Transnistrian dispute.
The Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov told the local press that the normalization of the relations between the two banks of the Nistru will be one of the major topics of the meeting. He admitted yet he has other priorities that he will raise at the meeting, namely the improvement of the economic life in the region, cooperation with Russian companies and identification of new markets for the Transnistrian products.
The Russian press says the meeting of the three presidents will take place in the run-up to the April 5 elections and wonders whether these elections will serve as a stimulus for settling the Transnistrian dispute.
