Voronin demands investigating Dodon and Grecheanyi over higher natural gas prices

Vladimir Voronin said Igor Dodon and Zinaida Greceanyi should be investigated for the fact that Moldova during many years paid higher prices for the natural gas imported from Russia and these should be held accountable as the former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko. He made such statements in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The Communist leader asked that immediately after the parliamentary elections, a governmental commission should be created to determine why former Minister of Economy Igor Dodon and ex-Premier Zinaida Grecheanyi in 2008 signed an agreement allowing increasing the price of gas with the Russian gas supplier Gazprom.

The former head of state noted that the task of negotiating and signing the agreement with Gazprom was entrusted to the then Prime Minister Zinaida Grecheanyi, who asked to be assisted by the then Minister of Economy Igor Dodon, arguing she didn’t feel confident enough. “I don’t know why a new agreement was discussed. After Grecheanyi returned from Moscow, she asked that Dodon should also go to Moscow and we then had a new contract stipulating a much higher price. I asked why and they told me that there is a scheme according to which the price will be reduced in two years,” said the leader of the Party of Communists.

Vladimir Voronin also said that Dodon wants so badly to enter Parliament in order not to be asked about this agreement because of which the people of Moldova paid prices that were several times higher than the prices paid by Germany.
