Volunteering recognized as work experience and length of service
Volunteering will be recognized as experience when applying for a job and length of service when the work will be performed in a public utility area related to the person’s specialty and professional qualifications. This is stipulated in the Volunteering Law that was approved by the Government on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The law defines the requirements as regards the management of the volunteer work, the volunteer certificates and cards, the letters of recommendation assessing the volunteer’s work.
A separate chapter refers to the measures aimed at stimulating volunteering, including for students. The document also stipulates the minimum quality standards on volunteering.
Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu said the approval of the mechanism for implementing the Volunteering Law will transform the volunteering policy into a real one. Volunteering will be recognized by the state, employers and civil society and this will contribute to increasing civic responsibility and to involving a larger number of people in dealing with community problems.
The Volunteering Law was adopted on June 18, 2010.
