Vladislav Ursu becomes European table tennis champion among cadets

Vladislav Ursu won the men’s doubles of the European Table Tennis Championship among cadets that takes place in Croatia’s Zagreb. The Moldovan tennis player won the title when playing together with Austria’s Kolodzievczyk, IPN reports.

In the semifinal, the pair Ursu/Kolodzievczyk beat the tournament’s favorites, Russian pair Vladimir Sidorenko/Maksim Grebnev, 3-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9). In the final, they defeated the Swedish pair Trul Moregardh/Martin Friis also by 3-1 (11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7).

In individual singles, Vladislav Ursu was eliminated in the competition’s 1/16 finals by Russia’s Lev Katsman 1-4. Moldova’s Andrei Putuntica, who competed in the youth tournament, also left the competition in the 1/16 finals.
