The new Law on the Prosecution Service is one of the most modern laws is Europe, but its implementation depends on prosecutors, director of the Legal Resources Center Vladislav Gribincea said in the program “Pahomi” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“We should not think that a good law will change the system. A good law can lay at the basis of changes. It depends on the prosecutors how this law is implemented. We will see if they want changes or will conserve the system. I hope there are many honest prosecutors,” stated Gribincea, who headed the working group for drafting the Law on the Prosecution Service.
According to Vladislav Gribincea, the independence of prosecutors is the main characteristic of the Law on the Prosecution Service. “The superiors will no longer be able to become involved in the cases dealt with by the prosecutors, not speaking about the prosecutor general, which will be rather a managerial post.
Gribincea considers the fact that the militarization of the prosecution service was excluded is important. “The prosecutors will no longer wear epaulets, uniform and firearms. I know that many of the prosecutors didn’t agree with this. But this is an insignificant thing that is important for ensuring the independence of prosecutors,” he stated.
