Vladislav Clima named president of Chisinau City Appeals Court

Judge Vladislav Clima became president of the Chisinau City Appeals Court after President Igor Dodon signed a decree to this effect. The opposition reacted, saying Igor Dodon continues to name corrupt persons to posts, IPN reports.

The decree was signed on September 2 and was published in the Official Gazette on September 4. The presidential administration didn’t announce the signing of the given decree.

PAS leader Maia Sandu said President Igor Dodon, by naming Clima as president of the Court, continues to appoint corrupt persons to posts. “These corrupt persons belittle justice and the people. Dodon named Clima president of the Appeals Court. Clima is the one who decided that the people’s vote is not important and upheld the decision to annul the elections in Chisinau. This is how Dodon prepares to rig the elections? Dodon needs faithful servants in the presidential elections as he already knows that the people will vote against him,” the politician posted on Facebook.

On July 28, the Superior Council of Magistracy(SCM) elected Vladislav Clima as president of the Chisinau City Appeals Court. President Dodon was to confirm Clima to the post.

Vladislav Clima started to work as a judge in 2006, at the Ciocana Court of Chisinau. In 2009, he was named vice president of this Court. In February 2017, he was appointed judge of the Chisinau Appeals Court. At the end of this January, the SCM opposed the appointment of judge Vladislav Clima and decided to put off the submission of Clima’s file to the two expert colleges for examination. The then acting president of the SCM Dorel Musteață said there were objections to the work of judge Clima because of a number of court judgments that he passed.
