The lights on the Country’s Main Christmas Tree will be switched on with the participation of President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin on December 28 starting at 17.00, according to the programme of events dedicated to the winter holidays prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The performance “Live and Flourish, Moldova” will be held by awardees of musical prizes for children “Laura 2007” in the Great National Assembly Square between 16.30 and 18.30. A recreational programme for children with Santa Claus (games, contests, songs, carols, congratulations) titled “The New Year’s Eve” will take place in the Great National Assembly Square on December 31 starting at 19.30. The folk concert “Be Healthy, Be Wealthy” will be given by the orchestra of Advahov Brothers between 21.00 and 22.00. The artistic programme “Revelion-2008” with the participation of pop and folk singers, humorists and carollers will take place between 22.00 and 23.55. Congratulations will be offered at 23.58 and the fireworks and laser show will start at midnight. The New Year concert will continue with the performance “Long Life” with pop singers, actors, humorists, interviews, games, drawings, contests etc. A recreational programme for children with Father Christmas and folk characters titled “Cheerful Sorcova” will start in the Great National Assembly Square at 17.00, while the performance “Harmonies of the Year” will begin at 19.00 on January 1. A Mega-disco for youth “2007 Hits” is scheduled for January 2, at 17.00. Carols, folk and pop music will be played from CDs in the Square during January 3-6, between 15.00 and 20.00. A concert of choral music themed “For God’s Revival” will be given in the Great National Assembly Square on January 6, starting at 15.00. The programme of carols “Switch on the Lights” by folk groups will start at 16.00, while the folk and pop music concert “From Generation to Generation” will begin at 18.00 on January 7. The discotheque of the 80s and a display of fireworks will start at 17.00 on January 8. The “Caravel of Culture” will give a performance on January 9. Folk and pop music will be played from CDs in the Square on January 10 – 12. The entertaining programme for children “Winter Story” will start at 15.00, while the artistic programme by pop and folk singers, humorists and carollers “In the Evening of Saint Vasile” will begin at 17.00.
