The Communist MPs are preparing a censure motion to obtain the dismissal of Viorel Cibotaru from the post of Minister of Defense, the head of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin said in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
The main reason for which the Communists want Cibotaru to be discharged from post is the fact that this described Russia as a ‘potential enemy’ of Moldova in an interview for Radio Free Europe after paying a visit paid to the NATO Headquarters. “We do not need such a minister. The situation is already tense and such statements only worsen the situation. If they do not accept Cibotaru’s dismissal, we will not take part in the sittings of Parliament in protest,” stated the Communist leader.
Voronin also said that after Cibotaru, the Communists could also seek the dismissal of the ministers of education, the environment, youth and sport and of economy. “It is 100 days since the Cabinet was installed. We have waited for the ministers to do something. Nothing is done. For example, the minister of economy cannot be seen and nobody knows what he does,” he stated.
Vladimir Voronin noted that the Party of Communists wants to control the Audit Office, the Broadcasting Coordination Council, the Central Election Commission, and the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”. “We want to at least monitor these institutions. Their backers from Europe should tell those who govern that the executive posts at these institutions should be held by the opposition. Maybe the mafia will be diminished and less money will be stolen from banks in such a case,” he said.
The Communist leader underlined that he is for holding a referendum on the autonomy of Balti town. “It is only about financial autonomy. They transfer money into the national budget and are paid back only 30%. The residents of Balti do not want to become separated, as some say,” he stated.
