Under the pretext of reestablishing the territorial integrity, the President Vladimir Voronin wants to ‘Transnistrianize’ Moldova, says the president of the Public Association for Liquidating the Consequences of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, university lecturer Iacob Golovca. At a news conference on February 7, Iacob Golovca said that by bringing 20 Russian-Communists from Tiraspol into the Moldovan Parliament and by attracting antinational elements over the Nistru, Voronin wants to liquidate the national social basis. Therefore, Moldova is in danger of becoming an autonomous republic of Russia. The organization’s secretary Ilie Bratu says that the mass migration of the population will contribute to this. In five-six year, the Romanians will be a minority in Moldova. Accord to him, all the Romanians that lived outside the Romanian area disappeared practically (for example in the south of Bessarabia – the White Fortress, Reni). Ilie Bratu says that the liquidation of the consequences of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact –Union with Romania is the only solution to save the nation and to become part of the European Union. Ilie Bratu, who is also the chairman of the Unionist Movement of Moldova, considers that Moldova must follow the German model and join the EU as part of Romania within the existent frontiers together with the Transnistrian region. “In such a way, the Transnistrian dispute will be put on the shoulders of the NATO, which is the only institution that can oblige Russia to withdraw its troops from Transnistria without a shot,” the cited source said. The union with Romania is not a trifle, but a legal right recognized by the international community by condemning the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Iacob Golovca said. On February 8, the Association will picket the Presidential Office and demand that the President allows opening the two Romanian consulates, in Balti and Cahul. The Chisinau City Hall was obliged by the Supreme Court of Justice to authorize the protest. The City Hall will also have to pay 1,000 lei in damages to the organization because the former caretaker mayor of Chisinau, Veaceslav Iordan, did not allow the Association to hold a protest in March 2007, invoking that their intention ran counter to the organization‘s status. The court ruled that Iordan’s refusal was illegal. The leadership of the Public Association for Liquidating the Consequences of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact says they will file a petition to the City Hall and ask that the damages be paid by Veaceslav Iordan.
