Vladimir Voronin to visit Patriarch Kirill in Moscow
The leader of the Communist Opposition Vladimir Voronin said he will not have a meeting with the President of Romania Traian Basescu, who will be paying a working visit to Chisinau between January 27 and 28. Voronin announced he will be in Moscow in that period as he is set to meet with the Patriarch of Russia Kirill, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The former President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, who is the leader of the Communists Party, considers that Traian Bssescu's visit to Chisinau is not timely. “I think Mister Basescu should mind his own business at home, in Romania. His visit is inopportune. The situation in Moldova is now tense and we do not need guests,” Voronin said.
Asked why he wants to meet with Patriarch Kirill, Vladimir Voronin said he is a devout man and hopes he will establish good relations with the Patriarch of Moscow as he did with Alexy II.
“We will also discuss a number of issues. Our meeting was to take place after the enthronement of the Patriarch, but it was postponed owing to the events that followed in the two countries. Now the time is suitable for a meeting and I'm very glad that I will meet with Patriarch Kirill,” said Voronin.
Vladimir Voronin also said that while in Russia he will have a series of meetings with politicians, but did not give details.
