Vladimir Voronin to PACE co-rapporteurs: Parliamentary alliance was formed by blackmail

The current parliamentary alliance was formed by blackmail and pressure and this is an amorphous alliance consisting of traitors that does not represent the real vote of the people. Thus, the Government voted in by this alliance cannot be considered legal, the chairman of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said in a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who are in Moldova on a visit, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the PCRM, Vladimir Voronin said that most of the problems faced by the country derive from the fact that the power is held by a narrow group of people. The problems in the banking system and the economic crisis are due to the fact that the current government is very greedy and is unable to govern the country.

Vladimir Voronin also told the PACE co-rapporteurs that the chances of avoiding early parliamentary elections are diminishing. The PCRM has never been afraid of the people’s vote. But free and fair elections can take place only if the Central Election Commission is depoliticized, all the political parties have equal access to the mass media and vote buying is prevented.

The PACE co-rapporteurs Valentina Leskaj and Ögmundur Jonásson also met with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and are yet to have meetings with the heads of parliamentary groups and political leaders.
