Vladimir Voronin: riot organizers cannot be called patriots
“The protest organizers cannot be called patriots, if they committed vandalism acts and profaned the state symbols, and the state institutions,” stated the Moldovan president and the leader of the Communists Party, Vladimir Voronin, in an emergency sitting of the Emergencies Commission, held in the Government, and attended by speaker Marian Lupu, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the state-owned agency Moldpres.
The media have not been told about the event.
Vladimir Voronin has stated the April 5 elections were free and fair, and the protests of the youth questioning the validity of the poll are organized by certain political forces. “This protest is well thought, organized and paid,” Voronin is quoted by Moldpres as saying.
“All the observers from the OSCE, EU, CIS, called the elections as free and fair. Moreover, nobody officially submitted requests to re-count the votes, nobody complained about breeches in the poll,” Voronin said.
“We'll identify all those who scammed this action, taking into account that they used to talk about not recognizing the elections a month ahead of the April 5 poll,” said Vladimir Voronin.
Thousands of students protest in Chisinau's downtown, this way questioning the results of the poll and claiming the Communists rigged the elections.
At about 5 p.m., the leaders of PCRM, PL, PLDM and AMN joined in the Government's building for negotiations.
