After questioning the former head of state Vladimir Voronin for about three hours over the April events, the prosecutors interrupted the meeting at the request of Voronin, who said he had arranged several meeting that cannot be postponed. A new questioning meeting will take place on January 26, starting at 11.00, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vladimir Voronin was questioned as a witness. After the questioning, he told the reporters that on April 7 he ordered the police not to intervene and not to admit a bloodshed. “How could we intervene when there were children aged 12 and 13 among the protesters? What is dearer – a human life or a building? On April 6, nothing pointed to possible violence the next day. Such problems must be solved by political methods, not by force. It is a stupidity when the politicians make mistakes that must be corrected by the police,” Voronin said. Vladimir Voronin maintains that the April 7 events had been planned long ago, regardless of what happened on April 5. “I continue to think it was an attempted coup. The competent bodies must establish who plotted it,” he said. Igor Popa, the head of the Prosecution Division of the Prosecutor Generals' Office, said Vladimir Voronin is suspected of misconduct in office during the April events, as the former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and the former commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari.
