Prosecutors who did not carry out the necessary investigations in the case of the "theft of the billion" must be dismissed from office and held accountable. This is the opinion of the President of the Communist Party, Vladimir Voronin. In his opinion, not only those who directly stole the money, but also the prosecutors who did not do their job must be held accountable before the law. The statement was made on the "Point on Today" programme, TVR Moldova, IPN reports.
" Anyone who was at the time in charge of the Prosecutor's Office, in the respective authorities has to worry even if he did not put his hands directly on the money, but just did not do the right thing according to his mission. The stress should not be laid just on the Prosecutor's Office, there are several other state institutions that are called state security bodies and they had to take care of what was happening in the country,” the communist maintains.
Vladimir Voronin claims that he wants to believe that things are going in the right direction, referring to the latest actions of the parliamentary committees, but also of the prosecutors with regard to the bank fraud. At the same time, the leader of the Communists believes that a politician who has nothing to hide should not flee the country because a politician's activity does not end when he retreats into opposition or when his term has expired.
Yesterday, Alexandru Slusari, the chairman of the Committee of Inquiry for the Investigation of the Bank Fraud, announced that in the Kroll report, Vlad Plahotniuc's name appears as the main beneficiary of the billion theft. Another beneficiary mentioned by the parliamentarian is the former prime minister Vlad Filat and his entourage, who appear in the Kroll report with the amounts and transactions made with money from bank fraud. Also in the Kroll report are mentioned Ilan Șor, Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova, Iurie Fotescu, Petru Lucinschi, Gabriel Stati and Olga Bondarciuc, notary who provided services to former PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc.
