President Vladimir Voronin participated at commemorative actions of soldiers who died during battles for Moldova’s liberation from fascist’s occupation. The president mentioned in his speech that the military operation “Iasi- Chisinau” is famous in the world not only as one of the most extraordinary military acts of anti-fascist forces in Balkans, but also as an operation during which success was achieved with small human losses. According to the president, the Memorial from Serpeni is the sacred place for praising the memory of each soldier that died in battle. “We praise their name, their heroic deeds and we pass to future generations the truth about the price of each meter of land that was liberated. It is the least we can do despite the challenges of our day to day life”, underlined Vladimir Voronin. “Two years ago, despite all the difficulties we are facing during these hard times, with the support of the entire nation we built this great monument was aroused to honor the deeds of heroes. The courage and bravery of all who sacrificed their lives and assured the liberation of the country from fascist occupation will always be remembered” added the head of state. On August 22 commemorative actions took place at the Memorial Centre “Head of Bridge Serepni” with the motto “beyond silence” that ended with a charity meal for the veterans.
