The Communist Party (PCRM) is ready to cover all the stages needed for Moldova to join the Customs Union if it wins the parliamentary elections and takes government over, the party’s leader Vladimir Voronin said in the program “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.
The Communist leader harshly criticized the Association Agreement with the EU, describing it as an infraction against the Republic of Moldova. He considers that the Eurasian Customs Union is more attractive. “The Eurasian project is something very interesting and does not contain the political part, as the Association Agreement with the EU does. This accord bans the Moldovan authorities from making changes to it during three years and this is serious,” he said.
Vladimir Voronin expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the Association Agreement with the EU does not refer to social problems and doesn’t envision what the Communists had done while in power during eight years. The program’s permanent invitee Igor Botan contradicted Vladimir Voronin, saying the accord with the EU contains a separate chapter centering on the social sphere and the Government of Moldova has to implement about 20 directives in this respect.
In the same program, the leader of the PCRM said the EU’s administration represents ‘a team of corrupt persons’ and criticized Jose Manuel Barosso for signing the Association Agreement with a Premier who formed part of the Cabinet that was dismissed for acts of corruption.
Vladimir Voronin said he approves only of the accord’s provisions concerning the justice sector reform and the fight against corruption. He expressed his confidence that they will win this autumn’s elections, underlining that they will bring things in the country in order without forming a coalition. He said that for the first time the party’s electoral list will include only members of the PCRM.
Throughout the program, Vladimir Voronin made acid and insulting remarks against the journalists and the permanent invitee of the program.
