The Party of Communists (PCRM) will not form an alliance with the Democratic Party (PDM) or the Party of Socialists (PSRM) in the next legislative body, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” produced by RTR Moldova channel.
Vladimir Voronin said his party will undoubtedly run in the parliamentary elections even if it didn’t become involved in the last presidential elections and in the new mayoral elections that will take place in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti on May 20. The PCRM hopes to get a maximum of votes. “If we have another four years of chaos in the country, I don’t know if someone will be able to do something for Moldova later. Not even the Europeans will be able to save the country,” stated the politician.
Vladimir Voronin noted he is ready to hold the post of Prime Minister or any other responsible post in the state. Asked how he will build his relations with the Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc, he said he will decide this after the elections.
The Communist leader also said that the new mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality shouldn’t have been staged now and called on the population to ignore them. “Elections should not be organized now as the legislation provides that the mayor is elected for four years and the term in office of the last elected mayor ends in a year,” he stated, noting that if the mayor resigns, there is the large staff of the City Hall that can manage the institution until the next elections.
