Vladimir Voronin: MPs who left PCRM were bought with large amounts

The chairman of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said the 14 MPs who left the Communist parliamentary group and formed the Social-Democratic Platform together with the Democrats were bought with large amounts of money. He spoke about this and other issues in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“Some of them approached me and said what sum they were offered and who offered money to them. They assured me that they will not betray and will not yield, but the next day announced that they leave the group. All those MPs worked a lot for the party and were raised by the party. Elena Bodnarenco says the truth. Good for her as she didn’t become lured like the others,” said the Communists’ leader.

In the same program, Vladimir Voronin leveled harsh criticism at the Constitutional Court for its March 4 Judgment by which the direct election of the Head of State was restored. “If the people want this, the modifications could have been made in Parliament, not by four judges who dared to change the Constitution. Only Parliament has the right to amend the Constitution,” he stated.

The leader of the PCRM considers that the election of the President of Moldova by the people’s vote could worsen the political crisis. “It depends on who is elected President. If a candidate of the opposition is elected, the crisis will deteriorate. Let’s remember the relationship between Mircea Snegur and Andrei Sangheli or that between Petru Lucinschi and Ion Sturza. We face the same risks,” he said.
