Vladimir Voronin meets again with Russian official Iuri Zubakov

President Vladimir Voronin met again with Iuri Zubakov, deputy secretary of the Supreme Security Council of the Russian Federation, on Wednesday, July 4, This meeting was described by the Press Service of the Presidency by means of one sentence, at the end of a press release which informed in brief about a tete-a-tete meeting with the President of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic, who visited Moldova, about the meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany in Chisinau, Wolfgang Lerke, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission to Moldova, but also about the visit of the head of state to the Technical University of Moldova. According to the Presidency, “different issues related to the present stage and prospects of Moldova-Russia relations, as well as aspects of the Transnistrian dispute” were discussed during the meeting with Iuri Zubakov. This year, Vladimir Voronin met several times with the Russian official Iuri Zubakov, but details about the meetings were not made public. Their last meeting took place on May 23. Later, the head of state met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Russian press wrote that the two heads of state discussed a Russian plan for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, which was sent by Zubakov to the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 3, and which is a new version of the 2003 Kozak Memorandum. The authorities in Chisinau denied the existence of such a plan, insisting that only the version proposed by Chisinau is being discussed.
