According to the Presidency, “different issues related to the present stage and prospects of Moldova-Russia relations, as well as aspects of the Transnistrian dispute” were discussed during the meeting with Iuri Zubakov. This year, Vladimir Voronin met several times with the Russian official Iuri Zubakov, but details about the meetings were not made public. Their last meeting took place on May 23. Later, the head of state met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Russian press wrote that the two heads of state discussed a Russian plan for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, which was sent by Zubakov to the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 3, and which is a new version of the 2003 Kozak Memorandum. The authorities in Chisinau denied the existence of such a plan, insisting that only the version proposed by Chisinau is being discussed.
