The most advantageous solution for Moldova now that the situation in the region is unstable is to adopt a constitutional law on the country’s permanent neutrality, which would create preconditions for ensuring internal stability, the leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said in a meeting with President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the PCRM, Vladimir Voronin underlined that such a law would confirm Moldova’s neutrality and would create the framework needed to identify viable solutions to the Transnistrian conflict and to agree a status for the Transnistrian region.
The two officials also conferred on the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union. The Communist leader said that Moldovan society, the nongovernmental organizations and political parties are disappointed by the content of this accord that, according to the politician, was negotiated non-transparently.
Vladimir Voroning said the current government and the European authorities should postpone the signing of the Association Agreement so that it can be better examined, especially the chapter concerning Moldova’s commitments.
