Vladimir Voronin is the most trusted political personality in Moldova

The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin is the political personality in which the Moldovans have the greatest confidence. Vlad Filat is the second most trusted personality. He is followed by Marian Lupu and Mihai Ghimpu, shows a poll carried out by the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing CBS-AXA. It was commissioned by the Institute GeoPOL, Info-Prim Neo reports. The survey was conducted on March 4-14, before the election of the President of Moldova, and covered a sample of 1,128 persons. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3. When presenting the results of the poll, CBS-AXA director Ion Jigau stated that 23.6% of the respondents said they trust Vladimir Voronin most of all. 11.9% said they trust Vlad Filat, 7.5% - Marian Lupu, while 5.7% - Mihai Ghimpu. 40% of those polled said they trust no one. When asked: “Which of the following political personalities do you trust?”, 36.2% of the respondents indicated Vladimir Voronin, 28.1% –Vlad Filat, 25.5% – Dorin Chirtoaca, while 22.5% – Marian Lupu. If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 72% of those questioned would take part in them, 9.7% would probably not go to the polls, 7.0% would probably go, 5,8% would not go, while about 5% do not know. If legislative elections took place next Sunday, 33.7% of the respondents would vote for the PCRM, 16.1% for the PLDM, 10.6% for the PDM, while 10.5% for the PL. Asked “Which party would you not vote for?”, 29.2% of those polled mentioned the PCRM, 26% the PL, 14.7% the PDM, while 10.7% the PLDM. The same poll shows that 52.3% of the Moldovans want the Constitution to be amended so that it allows for direct election of the President. 10.9% of the people consider the head of state must be elected by not more than 51 votes of MP, while 9.1% believe that parliamentary elections should take place so that one party wins a majority of votes and elects the President in Parliament. The head of the Institute for Political Sciences and International Relations of the Romanian Academy Dan Dungaciu said that communist still enjoys popularity and there is nostalgia for the Soviet times in Moldova. The Institute GeoPOL will carry out polls in Moldova and Romania on a regular basis. A similar survey will be conducted in Romania in April.
