Vladimir Voronin: I will run for President

The leader of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin will run for the presidency of Moldova. He made this announcement in the talk show “Pace for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

“I will definitely run, but we will not yet become involved as it’s not yet clear what happens to these direct presidential elections,” stated the chairman of the PCRM.

Vladimir Voronin also said that he will bank only on the PCRM and will form no alliance with other parties. “Earlier, we tried to negotiate with some of the parties, but the leaders of these parties focused only on their place on the list of candidates or on the post they will hold,” he noted.

Vladimir Voronin accused the president of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocan of rigging the parliamentary elections of April 2009. “I possess information that the PCRM then won 62% of the poll. Iurie Ciocan did his utmost and reduced the score to 60%. He was influenced both form inside and from outside. Even if we could not secure only one vote to choose the President, we announced early elections and didn’t resort to buying MPs,” said the Communists’ leader.
