Moldova’s ex-President Vladimir Voronin criticizes the authorities for the intention to call snap parliamentary elections this year even if the number of persons infected with SARS-COV-1 is very high. The leader of the Party of Communists considers the political struggles are now inopportune and the priority of all the political forces should be the mass vaccination of people, IPN reports.
Vladimir Voronin said his party will run in the next elections, but these cannot be organized in times of a pandemic. The intention of some of the political forces to hold elections his year is irresponsible.
“Given the state of emergency, they cannot call snap elections. Until this scourge is here, the elections are out of the question. The current Parliament should stay there as we must now take care of the citizens, of their health,” Vladimir Voronin stated in the talk show “Ghețu Asks” on TV8 channel.
The ex-President noted that he hasn’t gotten vaccinated yet, but he considers the type of vaccine that is administered to the people is irrelevant and what is important is that the vaccine should be authorized at international level, efficient and safe.
“I do not have Romanian nationality. I and the other members of the family haven’t been vaccinated. The immunization of people, either with Pfizer, Sputnik or a vaccine from China, should be now the key preoccupation. The vaccine should be only certified by the WHO and we should start to massively vaccinate the people,” said Vladimir Voronin.
He didn’t hesitate to tease his former party mate Igor Dodon, who went to Moscow to negotiate the obtaining of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
“I don’t think he is allowed to enter the Kremlin as Missis Zinaida Grechanyi allows him to enter the Parliament Building and to give news conferences there even if he is not an MP. In Moscow, they all realized who is Dodon,” stated Vladimir Voronin.
While on an official visit to the Russian Federation, the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon announced that Russia will donate 180,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine to Moldova.
