Vladimir Voronin: Constitution was turned into servant

The Constitution was turned into a servant, considers the leader of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin, who asks himself who in interested in this. According to Voronin, the November 24 decision of the Constitutional Court concerning the dissolution of Parliament is meaningless and worries the Communists, IPN reports.

The former President of Moldova said that by another decision the Constitutional Court allowed using again the Nazi symbols. “Only the Nazi swastika is to appear on the building of the Constitutional Court. I cannot understand the leaders of the parliamentary groups that do not react and that splutter when I ask them why they do so,” Voronin stated in a news conference.

As regards the formation of the new Government, the Communists’ leader said that in the very first sitting of Parliament he proposed forming a broad coalition, of all the elected MPs, but his proposal was rejected. “Furthermore, I proposed that all the three parties of the center-left – the Democrats, Communists and Socialists – should unite. If we unite, we will have 64 votes in Parliament and will be able to solve the problems of forming the Government and of electing the head of state. We can agree from the start how to choose the members of the Cabinet. Our only condition is that the Cabinet members must be professionals, approved of by us,” said Voronin.

He added that the Party of Communists is not afraid of early parliamentary elections and is ready for new elections. But these would be now a crime against the statehood and against the people of Moldova.
