The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin closes the April rankings of the Top 10 most influential politicians, slipping one spot compared with the March rankings, Info-Prim Neo reports. Anatol Taranu, director of the Political Consultancy and Strategic Research Center “Politicon”, which compiles the rankings, said that the fall of Vladimir Voronin has been predicted at the start of the year. In the January rankings, the Communist leader came second, while in the April rankings he is the tenth. “This is because the election of Nicolae Timofti as President of Moldova was a blow to the Communist Party, which continues to make mistakes. The PCRM’s rating has worsened and the last opinion polls show this. I do not exclude that Vladimir Voronin may sometimes disappear from the rankings or take positions that are not worthy of a leader of an opposition party,” Anatol Taranu stated. The rankings of the Top 10 most influential politicians were presented by “Politicon” vice director Ion Tabarta. Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Speaker Marian Lupu are ranked first and, respectively, second, with a difference of about 50 points between them. Anatol Taranu considers that Vlad Filat continues to top the rankings because Moldova gradually becomes an authentic parliamentary republic, where the Premier plays the principal role in politics. The place taken by Marian Lupu is permanently disputed by those who come next. Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca comes third with a difference of only 0.5 points. In the March rankings, the difference between Lupu and Leanca was almost 10 points. The fourth spot is occupied by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who climbed two spots from last month. President Nicolae Timofti slipped one spot to the fifth. Anatol Taranu believes that Nicolae Timofti can take even better positions, but it is highly improbably that he will beat the Premier. The head of state has not yet established relations with the media, while Vlad Filat gained a rich experience in this respect during two years. First Deputy Speaker Vladimir Plahotniuc comes sixth, up two spots from last month, while the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu ranked seventh, down one spot. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar ranked eighth and ninth, climbing nine and five spots respectively. The chairman of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon fell six positions and left the Top 10 rankings.
