Moldovan President in office Vladimir Voronin maintains that Moldova came over the political crisis after the events of April 7-8, after many European officials paid visits to Chisinau. The statements were made on Friday, April 24, immediately after the meeting of Voronin with the secretary general of the Council of the EU, top representative of the European Union for foreign policy and common security Javier Solana, who made a one-day work visit to Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. After about an hour of talk with closed doors, those two officials made statements for the media. The journalists were not allowed to ask questions. Vladimir Voronin also asked the European official “very respectfully and urgently” the European Union to discuss the problem of offering the free movement regime in the European space and said that Moldova expressed its will to start talks on the basis of the new agreement with the European Union. In his turn, Javier Solana told the media that “the president accepted that representatives of the opposition and possibly representatives of the European bodies were included in the state commission created through a presidential decree to elucidate the causes and consequences of the events which took place in Chisinau on April 7 and 8.” The European official described his meeting with the Moldovan politicians as being “very constructive” and said he would continue to communicate with Moldova by phone, and if needed, he would come again to Moldova. As to Voronin’s request regarding the liberalization of the movement, Solana stated “he would try to improve this aspect as soon as possible.” Before the meeting with the Moldovan president, the top representative of the European Union for foreign policy and common security met the leaders of those three opposition parties who enter the Parliament. After talking to them, Solana made no statement, but he specified by the end of the day that the opposition parties also agreed to delegate representatives in the commission instituted by Vladimir Voronin. PCRM Deputy Vladimir Turcan was appointed the president of this commission, and the conclusions are to be made public on May 5, at the first sitting of the new Parliament.
