“The situation can be remedied if the Head of Parliament is reelected,” the MP on behalf of the PCRM Vladimir Turcan said after Thursday’s sitting of the legislature, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Given that the Constitutional Court did not pronounce on the case owing to the parity of votes, we remained with a big question. The Parliament is to answer it by rerunning the vote, observing all the legal norms,” Turcan said. The MP said that the PCRM sees no other solution to the problem. Otherwise, the election of the head of state will remain blocked. The first deputy speaker Serafim Urecheanu described Turcan’s statements as insinuations. “Mister Turcan probably did not understand the Constitutional Court’s decision, but the PCRM’s unity in the process of electing the composition of the Standing Bureau and of the Parliament shows that the changes that they want cannot be implemented and that they admitted that the situation was unblocked,” Urecheanu said. Asked if the participation in today’s sitting of the Parliament together with the Alliance for European Integration is a first step towards dialogue, Vladimir Turcan said that a dialogue can take place only between parliamentary groups, not with an alliance. “In Parliament, we have groups, not alliances. The alliances are outside the legislative body,” he said. The parliamentary group of the PCRM has not yet announced whether it will field a candidate for the vacant post of deputy speaker.
