Vladimir Țurcan challenges his removal from post of CC president

Constitutional judge Vladimir Țurcan disputed the decision by which he was dismissed as president of the Constitutional Court (CC) and the decision by which Domnica Manole was named CC president.

Domnica Manole has told IPN that Vladimir Țurcan filed the application on May 4 and by this he asked to annul the decision of April 23.

“We will deal with this application within the legal timeframe of 15 days. We will inform society and the press about the result of the examination by a press release that will be published on the Court’s website,” stated Domnica Manole.

Contacted by IPN, Vladimir Țurcan was unavailable for comment.

Ex-Socialist MP Vladimir Țurcan, who was named constitutional judge by Parliament, was elected president of the CC on August 19, 2019. A decision published on the CC’s website on April 23 this year says that Vladimir Țurcan was dismissed as president of the Court following a vote of no confidence. Another decision says Domnica Manole was elected CC president by secret ballot for a three-year term, by a majority of votes.
