Vladimir Putin reiterates Russia’s willingness to identify viable solution to Transnistria conflict

Russian President Vladimir Voronin reasserted during a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Vladimir Voronin on February 21 the Kremlin’s willingness to identify together with Chisinau and Tiraspol a viable solution to the Transnistrian conflict. According to the Moldovan presidential press service, the two presidents highlighted the necessity of an urgent resumption of the five-plus-two settlement talks. During the meeting that took place at the official residence of the Russian President, the collocutors discussed the current stage of the Moldo-Russian cooperation and the prospect of strengthening bilateral collaboration in all directions. Among other issues addressed were the trade and economic relations between the two countries, which were said to have registered much progress lately. Vladimir Voronin will participate in the CIS informal summit, to take place on February 22 in Moscow.
