Vladimir Molojen and his predecessor charged with abuse of power

The former director general of the state-run company “Registru” Vladimir Molojen was indicted on charges of abuse of power and professional negligence. Former director of the same company Anatolie Gueniuc was also charged with negligence in office, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on October 7, deputy head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari said it was established that Vladimir Molojen in 2008, when he headed “Registru”, signed a contract with an advertising agency that belonged to his wife and son. Thus, Molojen caused damage estimated at over 2.5 million lei to the budget of IS “Registru”. According to the prosecutor, “Registru” is the only institution that provides document validation services and has no rivals and thus did not need advertising. As a director, Vladimir Molojen was to earn revenues, not to groundlessly cause damage to the budget. There was also a conflict of interest as he signed the contract with a firm belonging to members of his family. Anatolie Gumeniuc was charged with signing eight contacts with the same agency that belongs to Molojen’s son and wife over March 2006 – April 2008. He caused damage to the company’s budget assessed at almost 1 million lei.
