The Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) should be managed by a person with a clear view about the reformation of this institution. At the same time, this person should be from inside the institution, not from outside it, said invitees of the talk show “Moldova live” produced by the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari said the Security and Intelligence Service should go through a reform period. There are a number of bills that will substantially change the role and place of the SIS. One of them envisions the changing of the name of the SIS into the National Security and Intelligence Service.
According to the minister, this institution should be managed by a person who will have a very clear reform view. “That’s why it is probably harder to discuss more candidates given that this is a sensitive issue,” said Vladimir Cebotari.
Galina Bostan, head of the Center for the Analysis and Prevention of Corruption, said the SIS should be headed by a person from inside the institution, not outside it and this should be a security professional. “It is about the security of a state where there is a foreign army and the SIS should be managed by a professional in the field, not an amateur,” stated Galina Bostan.
