Vladimir Cebotari says in which situation PDM will submit a motion against Chicu Government

The Democratic Party will submit a censure motion against the Chicu Government if the executive will use the administrative resource to assist President Igor Dodon. The statement was made by the Democrat deputy Vladimir Cebotari. The politician also set an example of using the administrative resource in the election campaign - namely that the former prime minister went to meetings where he urged citizens to vote for the candidates of the ACUM bloc in the campaign for local general elections. The Democrat maintains that if this happens with the Chicu Government, then the PDM will demand its dismissal, IPN reports.

Moreover, Vladimir Cebotari mentioned that he would like the new Government to have a pro-Moldova position, but also to establish good relations with both Western and Eastern partners. Furthermore, the Democrat believes that Prime Minister Ion Chicu should have made the first official visits to Bucharest and Kiev, but not to Moscow, as planned.

Vladimir Cebotari has also stated, referring to the presidential election due to take place next year, that currently it is practically impossible to amend the Constitution in Parliament so that next year the president of the country would be elected in the legislature, but not by direct vote. According to him, even if the amendment could be voted on in Parliament, it would not be confirmed by the Constitutional Court. "This Constitutional Court in which are the representatives of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, the Action and Solidarity Party (...) Otherwise, if these amendments to the Constitution are made, then we can assume that they will be approved with the help of the people who were put there by Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase," stated Vladimir Cebotari on "O nas" program, Jurnal TV. Also, the Democrat believes that the Constitution should not be amended for anyone.

Public policy expert Stefan Gligor argues that there is an agreement between the Socialists and the Democrats. According to him, if there had not been for these understandings and the safety guarantees for the influential people in the Democratic Party, the Chicu Government would never have been appointed. In addition, Stefan Gligor is of the opinion that the PDM will not protest against the appointment of the Prosecutor General because the future prosecutor whose name is speculated in the public space would be under the political influence of Igor Dodon and between Socialists and Democrats there have been established these guarantees of mutual non-encroachment.

The expert argues that the PDM is currently in a very comfortable position: it is not responsible for anything, even if in the Government appointed by the Socialists and Democrats, people who previously worked in the PDM executive are included. "I understand all this from a political point of view. It is clear that the Democrats saved their party from an independent Prosecutor General,” said Stefan Gligor.
