Vladimir Cebotari: I'm not sure Stoianoglo is the candidate Igor Dodon would prefer

Democratic MP Vladimir Cebotari says the candidate submitted to President Igor Dodon by the Superior Council of Prosecutors for the position of General Prosecutor's Office head, Alexandr Stoianoglo, gave him a good impression. According to him, the contender selected by the CSP enjoys the respect of prosecutors, but he is not convinced that he would be the candidate that President Igor Dodon would like for the office. From this point of view, Vladimir Cebotari is skeptical about the designation. At the same time, the deputy speaker of the Parliament, PAS MP Mihai Popșoi, is of the opinion that the CSP decision did not come as a surprise, IPN reports.

Vladimir Cebotari argues that Alexandr Stoianoglo has the good reputation of a person who stands out from the rest, has his own opinion and defends his point of view. "People also say that he is not the person who could be enslaved by politicians. Let's hope so. I would like this," Vladimir Cebotari mentioned on" Politics of Natalia Morari" program, TV8.

At the same time, the parliamentarian says that there is no certainty that President Igor Dodon will accept the candidacy of Alexander Stoianoglo for the General Prosecutor's Office. "I am sure that not everything is decided yet. However, I am not convinced, in terms of political preferences, that this is the candidate that President Igor Dodon would prefer for the simple reason that, whether we like it or not, he has been linked to the Democratic Party and this could bother the president and the Socialists,” mentioned the Democrat.

PAS MP Mihai Popșoi maintains he was not surprised by the decision of the Superior Council of Prosecutors. According to him, it was known that Alexandr Stoianoglo, as well as Veaceslav Soltan, were the Socialists' favorites since they were given maximum scores by the representative of the Speaker of the Parliament within the commission of pre-selection of candidates for the position of Prosecutor General.

"As for Mr. Stoianoglo's professionalism, I have no reason to criticize him. As far as I remember while working at the American Embassy, when he was a Democrat MP, he gave me only good impressions”, the deputy concluded. At the same time, Mihai Popșoi says that he cannot have high expectations of Alexandr Stoianoglo, believing that if appointed as head of the General Prosecutor's Office, he will try to initiate legal proceedings on the external financing of the Socialist Party or the obscure business interests of the PSRM members. "This is a disadvantage from the start for Mr. Stoianoglo," the deputy continued.

Yesterday, the Superior Council of Prosecutors proposed to the Head of State the candidacy of Alexandr Stoianoglo for Prosecutor General position. Following the interview test, Stoianoglo was announced the candidate with the highest score.
