Vlad Plahotniuc: Solidarity in the AEI will overcome the crisis

The political crisis in Moldova can be overcome if the parties in the Alliance for European Integration will remain united. The statement was made by the First Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Vlad Plahotniuc, at his meeting with Petros Efthymiou, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Info-Prim Neo reports. Plahotniuc told the foreign official that the election of the president remained a major problem for Moldova. However, he added that after the local elections, more efforts for a better government, for development and European integration would be carried out. The Moldovan dignitary saluted the OSCE PA delegation’s visit, led by Petros Efthymiou and thanked for OSCE’s special attention, especially in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. “I think that all of the three Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly are providing important directions that should be followed by Moldova. The most obvious results are in the “Political Affairs and Security” domain, but the importance of neither “Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and the Environment”, nor “Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions” should be understated” mentioned Plahotniuc. The OSCE PA President, Petros Efthymiou, said that the contribution of OSCE PA and of OSCE as a whole to Moldova’s progress would be a positive one. “We hope for steps forward in the relationship with the EU and for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. All involved sides must be active and adopt a step-by-step strategy”, he added. The OSCE PA delegation made an official visit in Chisinau between May 3 and 5 to learn about the current situation in Moldova and about developments in the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict.
