Regardless of the situation, the Republic of Moldova must be headed by a pro-European President, first deputy chairman of the Democracy Party Vlad Plahotniuc stated in an interview for the portal Allmoldova, IPN reports.
Asked hypothetically who the Democratic Party will support in the expected runoff vote, Igor Dodon or Maia Sandu, if the Democratic candidate Marian Lupu does not reach the second round of voting, Vlad Plahotniuc said he considers the PAS candidate Maia Sandu has a correct position, says what she thinks even if she often makes mistakes and the shrewd ones deceive her and use her in their wars, at least she seems sincere and wasn’t seen promoting ideas that are harmful to the national interest. Igor Dodon is yet a real treat to the Republic of Moldova and a person who insists on his mistaken and damaging ambitions. “He is not a danger to me or the PDM. We coped with him without problems so far. Their no-confidence motion failed three weeks ago, but he has an extraordinary capacity to manipulate and could lead the country to a very dangerous path from the office of President,” he stated.
According to Vlad Plahotniuc, if Maia Sandu wins the presidential elections, the Government or Parliament will have to cooperate with her institutionally, as it is normal to do so in a state. There could be different opinions. The problems will be solved by dialogue, but the people expect the persons chosen to high-ranking posts to cooperate, not to quarrel. “The Republic of Moldova is not the only country where the President and the Government come from totally different political spheres. The effects of the difference in views between the presidential institution and the government could be even beneficial if the approach is constructive,” he said.
The first deputy chairman of the Democracy Party considers the withdrawal of Andrei Nastase from the electoral race was predictable and is logical. “He simply conceded when he saw that he has no chance,” stated Vlad Plahotniuc, adding that the decision to withdraw was taken after this saw that Marian Lupu was considerably ahead in the election campaign.
