Vlad Plahotniuc donates his salary of MP to woman who gave birth to quintuplets
First Deputy Head of Parliament Vlad Plahotniuc, the president of the Edelweiss Foundation, will donate his salary of MP to Tatiana Surugiu, who gave birth to quintuplets several days ago. On January 31, Vlad Plahotniuc went to see the woman at the Mother and Child Center and gave her 10,000 lei in assistance from Edelweiss and a VictoriaBank card with 10,000 lei on it, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the foundation’s press service.
Vlad Plahotniuc said he wrote a letter to the Parliament’s bookkeeping office, asking that his monthly salary be transferred to the mother of the five children. “I was also brought up in a large family and know how many problems such families face. Edelweiss will provide a unit of transport that will take you home when time comes,” he said.
Tatiana Surugiu is from Glodeni. She has two more children at home. The family lives in a dormitory in the town. Tatiana’s husband works in Cyprus. Until August 2010, when she found out that she was pregnant, she also worked in Cyprus as housekeeper. Her husband will return home when she and the five children are discharged from the hospital.
The newborn babies weigh between 700g and 1 kg and 300g. They are in incubators and are out of danger. Tatiana will go home when the children will weigh over 2 kg.
Vlad Plahotniuc is known for his charity acts done through the agency of Edelweiss during the last few years. In 2010 alone, this foundation made considerable donations for families in need, children’s homes and old people’s homes and supported different cultural organizations and events, it is said in the communiqué from the foundation.
