The danger of an external invasion is minimal for the Republic of Moldova, ex-Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Vlad Kulminski assured. According to him, destabilization can be generated by factors form inside the country. The effects of the economic and energy crisis can serve as a reason for destabilization, while the Government should be ready for any scenario. For his part, WatchDog expert Valeriu Pașa said Russia’s rhetoric with regard to Moldova is aimed at distorting the reality by false subjects, such as the alleged non-observance of the rights of Russian speakers, IPN reports.
Former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Vlad Kulminski is convinced that the scenario of a military conflict is less probable for the Republic of Moldova and the biggest dangers to the country’s stability come from inside, not outside. Russia’s plans concerning the replacement of the government and of the current Cabinet in Chisinau with an Executive obedient to Moscow are mistaken and unachievable.
“For the Republic of Moldova, the danger of an external invasion is minimal. But it’s clear that there is destabilization potential inside the country, caused by a number of factors, including inflation, the price of gas and uncertainty. The situation is favorable for internal destabilization, which can be aimed at replacing the government. The government should brace for any scenario. Those from the Russian Federation do not really understand what is going on in society in the Republic of Moldova, what the mentality of the people is, what their aspirations are. Russia acts as if the Republic of Moldova is its province. That’s why everything Russia plans for the Republic of Moldova is absolutely wrong. If someone thinks that the Government will give up following protests, coups and the people will be replaced with persons friendly to Russia, this is a huge mistake. In the Republic of Moldova, there are many pro-Europeans who are ready to defend what we have now,” Vlad Kulminski stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.
WatchDog expert Valeriu Pașa said Russia has intensified its messages regarding the Republic of Moldova in order to impose a false agenda on society.
“If the Russian military aggression had gone according to plan, the Russian army would have been in Chisinau now. More exactly, it would have been here since March. They made specific plans about the Republic of Moldova as they consider it insignificant and unable to put up any kind of resistance. And they also got ready for annexing Ukraine that would have surrendered immediately. Russian officials’ statements about the Republic of Moldova are designed to influence public opinion in the Russian Federation and in our country as it is clear that these statements will be disseminated by the press. These are subjects by which they try to create a false reality. They assert the rights of Russian speakers in the Republic of Moldova are not respected but this is not true. The rhetoric with regard to us is the same rhetoric that has been applied towards Ukraine during many years,” stated Valeriu Pașa.
Recently, Russian MP Leonid Slutki spoke about the necessity of increasing Russian support for the Transnistrian region, naming this “our territory”. The statement was made shortly after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that any threat to the peacekeeping forces in Transnistria would be considered an attack on Russia.
