Vlad Filat welcomes opposition’s return to Parliament

“I’m glad that they will return to work in Parliament. In a democratic state, the opposition’s role is as important as that of the government,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said, commenting on the Communist MPs’ decision to resume work in the legislative body, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“A powerful opposition means a responsible government,” said Vlad Filat.
He reiterated that the head of state must be elected in autumn. “I count on the good judgment of all the leaders and members of the parliamentary parties. Otherwise, we will have again early elections and this would be a disaster for our country,” said the leader of the PLDM. “Anyone can be a permanent candidate for the presidency, but few people can become heads of state after being permanent candidates.”
Vlad Filat confirmed that he had a meeting with the leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu on Monday, but said the discussions did not center on the election of the head of state, but on the August 27 events.
The Premier assured that the Alliance for European Integration exists. “The alliance will exist until it fulfils the promises made to the people and foreign partners and until it is functional,” he stated.
