Vlad Filat urges PDM to withdraw Valentina Buliga

The president of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova Vlad Filat called upon the Democratic Party to withdraw its candidate for mayor Valentina Buliga from the electoral race so as to support the democracy against communism, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Such a gesture, even if a little belated, would be a powerful signal to the voters, showing that the reason in the AEI is more powerful than the emotions. It would be also a very good signal to mobilize the supporters of the AEI,” Vlad Filat said in a press briefing. He also said that the current election campaign is the dirtiest of all those in which he took part as he experienced attacks both on the part of the opposition and the colleagues from the AEI. “It was a campaign with a wrong stake in which many resorted to attacks on the person and manipulation of the public opinion. There were no public debates on what we intend to do for the citizens of Moldova. What is more serious is that attempts were made to damage the credibility of the press, which is a direct attack on democracy,” said Vlad Filat. He called on the citizens of Moldova to exercise their right to vote on June 5. “On Sunday, we will not only elect the mayors and councilors, but will also vote for a democratic local administration system, which is supported by our development partners, not a Communist system based on lies and thefts,” said Vlad Filat. On May 6, the PLDM withdrew its candidate from the race for the mayoralty of Chisinau and threw support to Dorin Chirtoaca.
